Argentina’s largest telecom was apparently hit by Sodinokibi ransomware, with the attackers demanding a $7.5M ransom, and setting a 48-hour deadline.
The ransomware allegedly infected over 18,000 workstations and reached terminals holding sensitive data, which has consequently been exfiltrated by the ransomware attackers.
In addition to publishing the stolen data, the attackers are also threatening to double the ransom if they are not paid within a certain amount of time, therefore forcing a quick decision by the victim.

Ransomware like Sodinokibi is blocked by Acronis Cyber Protect’s AI-powered heuristics and data can also be restored almost instantly with integrated backups.
