Join Tisch College for a conversation with former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Dan Glickman. Glickman recently served as the Executive Director of the Aspen Institute Congressional Program, a nongovernmental, nonpartisan educational program for members of the United States Congress. From 1995 – 2001, he served as the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, during which time the Department administered farm and conservation programs, modernized food safety regulations, forged international trade agreements to expand U.S. markets, and improved its commitment to fairness and equality in civil rights. Glickman previously was a U.S. Congressman representing the 4th Congressional District of Kansas for 18 years, where he also served as a member of the House Agriculture Committee and the House Judiciary Committee and as Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. In prior years, he was the Chairman of the Motion Picture Association of America, Inc., the Director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, the President of the Wichita School Board, a partner in the law firm of Sargent, Klenda and Glickman, and a trial attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Glickman is a Senior Fellow at Washington D.C.’s Bipartisan Policy Center, where he co-chairs its Commission on Political Reform, Democracy Project, Prevention Initiative, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Task Force. He will become an Adjunct Professor in Food and Nutrition at the Friedman School of Nutrition at Tufts University.
This event is cohosted by Tisch College and the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy.
