‼️MIDLAND FREE FLOOD RELIEF EFFORTS (please read):

Due to the flood, evacuations, and pandemic, we know there are so many that need help and are hurting in our church, community, and region. Many in our church are suffering through damage to their homes. We love you and care about you. Please reach out if you need help. Please call or text JoAnn Smith (our Care Team Leader) at 989-430-1395 or Pastor Gib at 989-859-6137 so they can help coordinate volunteers and resources to help you.

Over the past several days many people from Midland Free have been busy behind the scenes through organic and grass roots relief efforts. Our Care Team and many other volunteers from our church have been serving others and working tirelessly in our community. We will have a major update very soon on other relief efforts that are coming and ways our church will coordinate with other national groups to aid those in our community. Please be patient and extend grace as we have a lot of information coming in and a lot of needs to meet.

For now, here are a few important updates about what we have done, what we are doing, how you can help, and how we can share Jesus during this time:

➡️ We offered our church building as an emergency shelter the day of the evacuations to local officials and they put us on the reserve list (and ended up not using us).

➡️ Firm Foundations Early Learning Center (FFELC) has reopened on a limited basis to offer child care to essential workers.

➡️ We are working with DRAW (Disaster Relief at Work) and World Vision to make our church a distribution point for flood cleanup buckets, hygiene kits, and food boxes. We are in need of drivers to help deliver buckets of supplies to families cleaning out flood debris from their homes. Dan and Barb Hagler have agreed to help coordinate this activity. Please reach out to Dan’s cell 989-948-3742. Please plan to meet at the Midland Free South Entrance on Saturday, May 23rd at 11:00 AM.

➡️ We have also been in contact with EFCA Reach Global Crisis Relief (our church denomination crisis response team), who will be sending representatives to work with our GoLocal Team to look for additional ways to serve our community.

➡️ We are working with Flood of Love, a coordinated local church initiative to meet the immediate emergency needs of our neighbors. More details here: https://midlandflood.org/

➡️ A centralized disaster hub has been set up through 211 for Midland County Disaster Resources. More details here: https://www.211nemichigan.org/covid-19.html

➡️ We are also in contact with Samaritan’s Purse about how to partner with them to help those in our region and share the Gospel. We will have more updates soon.

➡️ If your home is NOT damaged, ask the Lord what you can do and how you can serve others. Take the time to help. Ask others to join you. Please call or text JoAnn Smith (our Care Team Leader) at 989-430-1395 or Pastor Gib at 989-859-6137 if you are looking for a way to serve. It will also be helpful for us to know what skills you have so we can coordinate the best place for you to serve.

You will see more communications over the next few days and next week about other ways our church is working and how YOU CAN HELP.

In the meantime, we encourage you to continue to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those you encounter. Engage God’s world by checking on your neighbors. Listen, encourage, act, and pray! Share hope. Share Jesus. Be available!
